Dear Shaded viewers,
Off-White returns to the footwear game with the release of two new sneakers.
“BE RIGHT BACK” is a shoe inspired by wellness, but flips expectations of the term to prioritize the wearer’s needs. To “BE WELL” can mean whatever an individual needs it to mean, whether that’s a meditative walk or a night out on the dance floor. The shoe is a sequel to founder Virgil Abloh’s “OUT OF OFFICE” sneaker that launched in 2020, revisiting the importance of committing to yourself and the promise of becoming the greatest version of you.
Meant for the every day, the design of the sneaker takes cues from ‘90s performance running shoes. Mesh and rubberized leather take shapes in a low-top upper and a fresh form of the brand’s signature Arrow. The sneaker first launched in May in New York, Miami, Milan, and Paris, each with a limited-edition destination-inspired colorways. In September, the design will be released in 11 more colorways, each imagined for the expressions of different lifestyles and personalities.
In July, Off-White pivots to the skateboarding community, with the release of founder Virgil Abloh’s final sneaker design. By incorporating protective elements to the toe cap, heel cup, and sole, the parts of the shoe that meet the board, the VULCANIZED 779 is demonstrative of Abloh’s love of skate. Color-blocking in four launch colorways – Black-Black, Army Green-Blue, White-Beige, and Dark Grey-Ice – highlights these design elements.
The VULC 779 takes its name from the area code of Abloh’s hometown in Rochford City, Illinois, 815/779. Its launch campaign features skaters Gabriel Fortunato, Adrianne Sloboh, Davey Sales, Yuri Facchini, Jessyka Bailey, Marie De Courcy, signifying the united vision by which Abloh founded Off-White.
