Dear Shaded viewers,
Études presentation of their latest collection in PFW, in the Mezzanine of Palais de Tokyo welcomed a new era that looks back to its origins. Études becomes Études Studio, to reinforce its founding codes and bring them to the global conception. The new course establishes a distinction of thought, vision, and style at each step from research and work. The “É” symbol maintains its powerful position, representative of the French roots of the brand as it extends its reach to exchanges on a broader scale.
The new collection features two chapters “N24 Untitled” and “N25 Never Before Seen”, unveiled in a performance that replaces the runway. Through the eyes of Études Studio, we witness the figure of the artist and his sartorial approach. Reimagining the presentation of clothes during fashion week results in a dynamic statement on the role of clothing in our world, with continuous flow and the performance of music and poetry coming together. The mezzanine filled with a gentle fog, and once the welcoming voice of James Massiah faded out, choreography by Michele Rizzo and guitar by Pierre Bujeau-Megabasse gradually built its energy.
N24 Untitled looks at the artist’s way of life, and the process of creation from the studio to the grand opening. Function and comfort make the looks practical, yet they maintain signature Parisian elegance. Essential elements of familiar styles take on bolder forms, such as exaggerated sportswear and workwear blending with suiting. The muted palette recalls the colors of the studio and city, with highlights calling to nightlife. N25 Never Before Seen follows a similarly charismatic figure, this time with a focus on human energy and interactions with the landscape. Movement and its eroding effects are reimagined in the details of streetwear garments such as hoodies, sweatshirts, and jeans. Graphic patterns such as trompe-l’oeil of crumpled clothes and splatters of screen-printing paint represent our relationship with clothing. Iconic references and refreshing interpretations of Andy Warhol’s early pop art holistically round off the story of the collection.
In all, the new era of Études is summarized in contemporary and versatile allure, combining the urban and the elegant, and reflecting every step of the artists process.
