Dior’s Resort 2025 Collection is an Ode To The Scottish Highlands by Bethany Berkeley

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Set amidst Drummond Castle’s gardens in Perthshire, Maria Grazia Chiuri presented her Resort 2025 collection for Dior. Drawing inspiration from Christian Dior’s time spent in Scotland during his last show in the country in 1955, the collection was filled with romance and renaissance gothic inspired looks.

The show was a celebration of all things Scottish, with reiterations of traditional tartan patterns and elements of chainmail, it was a nod to the country’s rich heritage. Chiuri even collaborated with renowned Scottish brands like Le Kilt, Harris Tweed, Johnstons of Elgin, ESK Cashmere, and Robert Mackie to ensure authenticity in the designs.

Classic Dior silhouettes, like gowns and skirts, were reimagined for a contemporary version of Mary Queen of Scots. Tartan prints were juxtaposed with sheer lace, and leather corsets coupled with choker necklaces added a touch of gothic edge to their respective looks. Alongside the romantic elements, a touch of rebellion emerged as the show progressed. Traditional kilts, reinterpreted by Chiuri, walked the runway alongside punk-inspired elements like chunky boots and hardware belts emulating the collection’s ability to blend past and present, femininity and strength.

Chiuri’s Resort 2025 collection was a lesson in cultural exchange, not just drawing inspiration from the country’s history but working closely with local artisans and author, historian, and artist Clare Hunter, she delivered a show that was as insightful as it was stylish.

Later,

Bethany
