Fashion Forward: Unveiling the Future at the 15th International FASHIONCLASH Festival photos by Laura Knipsael and Mitch van Schijndel

Dear Shaded Viewers,

In the heart of Maastricht, the 15th International FASHIONCLASH Festival unfolded over the weekend of November 17-19, 2023. The event  was a vibrant tableau where the future of fashion took center stage.

Over three days, the festival became a melting pot of creative expression, with over 100 designers, artists, and makers from over 30 countries. These emerging designers and performing artists weren’t just showcasing their work; they were engaging in a dialogue with an international audience, blending the borders of fashion, art, and performance.

The festival’s programming was as eclectic as its participants. From thought-provoking exhibitions to dynamic performances, each element was a piece of a larger puzzle. The inclusion of talks and workshops added depth, fostering a space for learning and exchange. Notably, the fashion film screenings offered a unique lens to view and interpret contemporary fashion culture.

FASHIONCLASH wasn’t just about displaying fashion; it was about contextualizing and celebrating it in a way that questioned the status quo and invited reflection. In the end, the festival did more than just present fashion; it offered a glimpse into the future of how fashion intersects with culture and society.
