Today’s “Blade Runner” at A.W.A.K.E Mode PFW F/W 23/24 by Leticia Dare

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Natalia Alaverdian’s A.W.A.K.E. Mode Fall 2023 Collection is a beautiful homage to Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner,” blending the film’s futuristic aesthetic with Alaverdian’s signature tailoring and attention to detail.

The collection features oversized jackets, draped dresses, and long-and-lean knitwear, all with a focus on structure and tailoring. However, Alaverdian adds a touch of whimsy with her use of textures, inviting closer inspection and touch to fully appreciate the intricacy of the fabrics.

Alaverdian’s use of cuts and asymmetries adds interest to each piece, with the sub-trend of fluffy trousers providing a playful element to the collection. The stunning use of paillettes and shine, which are not typically seen in Alaverdian’s work, elevates the collection to new heights.

The Blade Runner sky inspires the collection’s deep blues, purple bordering on black, and russet palette. The fabrics’ textures are a mixture of ballet and Japanese buto, brought to life with shimmying tabs that move like old-fashioned airport flight boards.

Overall, the A.W.A.K.E. Mode Fall 2023 Collection is a stunning tribute to “Blade Runner,” showcasing Alaverdian’s talent for tailoring and attention to detail. The use of texture and unexpected cuts adds an element of interest to each piece, while the sub-trends provide a playful touch. The stunning use of paillettes and shine elevates the collection to new heights, making it a standout of Paris Fashion Week.
