Desire and disorder at Isabel Marant PFW F/W 23 by Leticia Dare

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Isabel Marant has once again delivered a collection that exudes cool, effortless style and a sense of rebellion. The Fall/Winter 2023 show was a true spectacle, with a lively atmosphere that perfectly matched the energy of Marant’s designs. From the banging soundtrack to the mosh pit and the daring performance by singer Rebecca Baby from Lulu Van Trapp, the show was a celebration of desire and disorder.

The collection itself was a knockout, featuring a range of looks that will undoubtedly become wardrobe staples for many women. The square shouldered blazers were particularly noteworthy and will be a key trend for the upcoming season. The oversized parkas and boyish sweaters were also standouts, along with the ’80s cocoon coats and the uber conical heeled boots.

Marant’s focus on female empowerment is evident in the louche, sexy yet casual aesthetic of her label, and this collection is no exception. The models who walked the runway were an impressive lineup of some of the world’s top runway strutters, including Natasha Poly, Liya Kebede, Anna Ewers, and many more. Marant’s signature blouson-y biker leathers and leggy boots looked especially alluring on the star-studded cast, although it would have been nice to see some curvier models in the mix.

The collection’s color palette started with natural and minimal tones before exploring yellow and magenta horizons and eventually diving into black. Metallic zips added a perfecto spirit to the collection, while graphic cut-outs and plays on transparency revealed subtle parts of the body. The fabrics were supple and feminine, contrasting with heavy cable knits, dyed denim, wool, and warm shearlings.

Overall, Isabel Marant’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection was a bold and exciting show that showcased the designer’s unique ability to blend the effortlessly cool with the irresistibly sexy. Marant’s focus on female empowerment and celebration of the everyday and the real are more relevant than ever, and this collection is a testament to her longstanding commitment to making clothes that matter and are not disposable. With this collection, Marant has proven once again that looking good and feeling good are always the same thing when it comes to wearing her designs.
