Valentino The Beginning
Dear Shaded Viewers,
M7, the design and innovation hub in Msheireb Downtown Doha was the site for the most comprehensive exhibition dedicated the Valentino’s founder, Valentino Garavani, and to the legacy of the house’s haute couture heritage. Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, Massimiliano Gioni and Alex Fury were the curators of the project. What they created was an emotional ‘experience’ going through the archives, blurring the themes and chronology of the house.
Garavani and Piccioli’s creations sit along side each other in the exhibition and it is not always that easy to attribute the creator of the garment. Alex Fury, one of the curators of the exhibition found it astonishing how much of Mr. Garavani was in Mr. Piccioli and vice versa. The two creators are the embodiment of the city they love, Rome. Celebrities like Marisa Berenson and Zendaya have made the collections legendary both in the past and the present. At the opening members of the Qatari royal family mingled with Wisdom Kaye and Precious Lee among others.
Forever Valentino is open to the public until April 1st.
