A softer side at Rick Owens PFW SS 23 by Leticia Dare

Dear Shaded Viewers,

There was a romance in the air at Rick Owens PFW SS 23 this season. From the fountain projecting sky high at Palais De Tokyo to the orchestral rock soundscape, a far cry from the heart pumping techno of previous seasons. A softer side of Rick? With flowing colourful silks, feminine draping and even a softer edge to his iconic kiss boots with tight ruching and no hard silver toe instead muted, it was in fact refreshing to see a new side to the fashion house. With milky nudes and bold bright tones that could hold their own against the power of black, Rick is ready to show us there is another way. Another way to live, to be, to consume and to love. The fabrics and shapes were an absolute stand out inspired by ancient jellyfish made out of translucent leather and gowns from 200 meters of recycled tulles made out of waste from the ocean. Even cow hide dresses which were waste product from food industry were tanned in natural glycerine and made to look like gelatinous fruit roll ups. Exaggerated shoulders to alter the natural body shape were also another reference to otherness. Embrace the unique, exactly what Rick stands for and exactly why he has such a dedicated following.

Later,

Leticia
