Tabor and Villalobos at Cristina Grajales Gallery in NYC – Text and Images by Eugene Rabkin

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Yesterday I got a sneak preview of the new installation of Graham Tabor and Miguel Villalobos at Cristina Grajales Gallery in SoHo. In the fashion world the creative duo is mostly known for their jewelery, 1-100, plenty of which was on display, including their rough-hewn yet elegant sterling silver bracelets and necklaces. But the star of the show was the whale skeleton made out of resin coated cardboard and paper. "When we were making it, we started with bastard materials," Tabor explained to me during the walkthrough. On view are also the duo's photographs, as well as their book Hic et Nunc.

The installation officially opens tomorrow and will go on through April 26th.

Best,

Eugene
