Dear Shaded Viewers,
I have the sweetest memory of meeting Matty Bovan in London. I was invited to attend his show in London by Mandi Lennard and to the after party. Love at first sight. Creativity is what keeps me interested in fashion after all these decades and Matty is exploding with it. He creates his own signature with joy using color, texture and volume to create his shapes. In 2021 he was awarded the Woolmark Prize, highlighting his knits. He is a rebel with the craft and enjoys challenging the norm. Recently I was listening to an old Rick Owens youtube interview where Rick said to be a real designer you have to be a maker and certainly Bovan lives up to that definition. The pieces are fun and very wearable and I have a feeling that the person in the garments cannot help but smile.
