Think pink at Valentino PFW 22/23 – text by Leticia Dare

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Like two sides of a coin, the sweet side of life and the dark side, Valentino’s message was clear “monotone”. With a full pink set that was the same tone as the pink in the clothing it was as though I was transported into the movie ‘Funny Face’ with Audrey Hepburn and the concept ‘Think Pink”. Pierpaolo Piccioli chose this concept so the viewer would focus on the silhouettes and shapes of the collection. The choice of pink instead of the Valentino red the brand is infamously known for is to represent pretty, punk and the subvert culture around the colour and this feeling was translated across each look. From dresses slashed with cut-outs but detailed with small bows and 3D sculptural flower motif gowns to sheer balloon shaped blouses, the Valentino look gave a little 60s vibe with a modern twist.

Later,

Leticia
