Matty Bovan re-interprets the classic UGG boots for his LFW show-runway photos Olivier Claisse

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Matty Bovan titled his recent collection Cyclone: a force that causes “chaos and destruction—even beauty—in the wake of its power.” The collection was an homage to America with re-purposed classics and a splattering of paint on classic UGG®.  Classics like the Classic Mini Boot, Classic Short II and Neumel Cozy.

“UGG have very kindly given me a selection of my favorite styles and for this show I have hand painted high shearling boots, layered up to look like characters have traipsed through a landscape of grime, dirt, and paint, through my exploration of dystopic themes, which I always pursue, but this season, there’s a big dollop of hope permeating the collection like a strong inner core. I’ve also hand painted motifs inspired by folk art in America, having just spent two months in deepest Connecticut, and lucky enough to spend time at the Mark Twain Library. Of course, the best bit, is keeping a pair for myself, and I love this relationship as I am challenging myself to the extreme by morphing a ready-made classic such as UGG and looking at it through the lens of Matty Bovan Studio.”
