IA London Spring-Summer 2022 collection corresponds with Tadao Ando’s critical regionalism and the idea of the “Weightlessness of Concrete”.
A self-taught architect and Pritzker prize 1995 winner, Ando is said to create a “haiku” effect, designing complex spatial circulation while maintaining the appearance of simplicity. Applying this to garment making, IA London’s founder and self-taught designer Ira Iceberg builds complex patterns – sometimes up to 50 pieces – using the sculptural cutting technique.
Interpreting the idea of the “Weightlessness of Concrete”, Iceberg prints concrete textures on weightless fabrics, including fine silk and silk blends and light cotton. Designed “With Nature In Mind”, Blue Fossil and Wild Rice prints complete the collection.
