NIGO the new artistic director at KENZO

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Sidney Toledano, President-director general of LVMH Fashion Group and member of the Executive Committee of LVMH, announced de Nigo to the post of Creative Director at KENZO starting September 20th.

“I am very happy to welcome Nigo as artistic director of KENZO. The arrival of an extremely talented Japanese designer will allow us to write a new page in the history of the house that Takada Kenzo founded. I am convinced that Nigo’s creativity and innovation, as well as his attachment to the history of the House, will allow us to express the full potential of KENZO.” said Sidney Toledano.

“I am proud to have been appointed Artistic Director of KENZO. I was born the year Takada Kenzo san opened his first boutique in Paris. We both graduated from the same fashion school in Tokyo. In 1993, the year KENZO joined the LVMH group, I started my career in fashion. The original creative approach of Kenzo san is my own creative philosophy. Bringing the spirit of Takada Kenzo san’s savoir-faire to life to create a new KENZO is the greatest challenge of my 30-year career, a challenge I intend to take up with the KENZO teams. Finally, I would like to thank Bernard Arnault and Sidney Toledano for giving me this wonderful opportunity”, says Nigo

Nigo launched his first collection in Tokyo in 1993 and continued to change street culture globally. At the same time he worked in the world of fashion and music. He has many collaborations under his belt and continues to innovate and create new representations of fashion. In 2020 he did a capsule collection with Virgil Abloh for Louis Vuitton.
