Berlin Fashion Week – catwalks, panels, delicious lunches, dinners and showroom visits and more…

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Last week I went to Berlin for BFW where I assisted at catwalks, a panel by Fashion Revolution – where we met Orsola De Castro (Global Creative Director) & Carina Bischof (Founder Fashion Revolution Germany). I’ve been following  Fashion Revolution for months on Club House. Fashion Council Germany x MBFW had a panel discussion on “Fashion and Digitalization”. My first night ended at Crackers Bar & Restaurant where I was seated with a few delightful designers and the journalist and author Gemma A. Williams, features editor at Jing Daily and author of Fashion China.

My Day 2, which was actually, I think, Day 3,  we went 40 minutes outside the center of Berlin to attend the William Fan fashion show. Fan focuses on tailoring and a fusion between his Chinese origins and European elements. The set design was blue and austere in an industrial building. Afterwards we went to Highsnobiety’s Pop-up shop. Next came an impressive NEO, FASHION, Best Graduates Show x MBFW. The 3 best German fashion design graduates were selected from 13 renowned universities, and awards were given in 3 categories: Sustainability, Best Craft and Best Design. Everything, or almost everything, takes place in Kraftwerk Berlin a great industrial space where we also saw the collaboration of Heron Preston with Mercedes Benz, the car appeared in Heron Preston orange. At night there was the Firesidechat with President of Fashion Council Germany at Restaurant Barchardt Berlin. All of Berlin seemed to be there.

A few catwalks:

Malaikaraiss collaborated with Dr. Hauschka.  Everyone was thrilled with their Dr. Hauschka gift bags.  The collaboration was called the new Freedom: revisited collection. “Together with Dr. Hauschka we want to be rebels and make a difference.” 24 looks were presented in collaboration with Berlin illustrator and creative partner, Anna Zimmermann.

The holistic natural beauty look by Dr. Hauschka used new key-products, highlighter and blush as well as moisturising lipsticks.

The following products were used for the look:
Facial Toner | Revitalising Mask | Lip Balm | Soothing Day Lotion| Concealer | Foundation | Brow & Lash Gel | Bronzing Powder | Blush in Raspberry | Highlighter | Lipstick in Color „Foxglove“

William Fan- Neighbourhood

The William Fan collection was the celebration of the liberation after the COVID lockdown. The collection was sustainable in the way it was designed to last for years. The casting had a flavour of ‘neighbourhood’ and the accessories added just the perfect bright sparkle to the silhouettes.

FCG Fashion Puzzle – Designer Studio & Atelier Visits: Brachmann, Nove, Fiona Bennett, Working Title, Natascha von Hirschhausen, Lutz Morris, etc.

Then I was off to the airport and thank you Florian Mueller for encouraging me to actually leave Paris and attend and of course thanks to the Fashion Council Germany, Berlin Fashion Week and merci Dr. Hauschka for your wonderful  products. It’s nice when you receive gift bags of products that you actually want to use.

Later,

Diane
