Neith Nyer S/S inspired by pop culture in both Japan and Brazil

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Neith Nyer was founded in Paris in 2015 by Francisco Terra. Neith Nyer is the name of a Greek Goddess as well as the name of Terra’s grandmother. Terra grew up in Brazil and was one of the very few live shows during Paris Menswear. I’ve attended all of Terra’s shows and this was no exception. It took place at the Consulat, formerly an electricity sub-station. Terra was not on the official fashion calendar, for one thing he believes that young brands are made on Instagram and by celebrities wearing his clothes. Miley Cyrus wore one of his pink dresses and the model Bella Hadid appeared on social media in one of his silk skirts and latex tops, these appearances increased his sales.

The new collection featured hand-coloured denims, recycled cashmere and vegetable leather. Terra wants people wearing colourful things and mixes influences from pop culture in both Brazil and Japan. The point of departure for this collection was a 80’s film with the pop star XuXa as the leading role. The passage of darkness into light is translated into the garments. The free interpretations of the garments in the film worn by XuXa. The collection is also an homage to Dora Diamant, notorious for her wild music and style. a friend of Terra’s who passed away. They spent many wild nights in Tokyo. The collection is also collaborations with many artisans.
