Dear Shaded Viewers,
I’ve been appreciating Glenn Martens’ work since his school days and today DIESEL presented his first full collection with a film made in collaboration with artist/director Frank Lebon, soundtrack by the British musician Leon Vynehall.
Click the film above it glides through reality and a dream. The main character with blood red hair takes us from home to the street. The elevator ride reminded me of one of the best parties I attended in Paris decades ago. This is the bit where Martens showcases both heritage DIESEL and his take on aesthetics. Martens’ has always had a handle on denim so in fact DIESEL is a perfect fit, as are his jeans. There is a heritage- often upcycled chapter that holds reused dead stock DIESEL denim, including an artisanal lattice details, smocked, and floor gazing topcoat, my favourite in fact. Upcycled jersey pieces are cut-and-sewn- and dyed to create new jumpers and bombers.
Spring/Summer 2022 sees the introduction of DIESEL LIBRARY, a sustainable made-to-stay collection with genderless jeans, shirts, tops, skirts, shorts, etc. DIESEL LIBRARY will remain permanent and always be the starting point, it reflects the company’s new sustainability-forward mantra. clothes that can be worn more than the ’30 time’ sustainable standard, thus garments with a shelf-life.
The short film’s credits include: Frank Lebon, Director; Christopher Simmonds, Art Director; Larissa Hoffman, Photographer; Jabez Bartlett, Set Designer; Ursina Gysi, Stylist; Cyndia Harvey, Hair; professional haircare by Wella; Inge Grognard, Makeup; Midland Agency, Casting; Leon Vynehall, Music Director, starring; Ella Snyder.
A selection of the key looks will be available in avant-premiere starting from September.
Later,
Diane
