Alphonse Maitrepierre just plugged haute couture to the here and now. His video presentation for the Spring Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection is, in my opinion, the most innovativly executed presentation in the genre this week.
The collection, called Madeleine is an homage to Madeleine Castaign the famous antique dealer and interior designer. An eternal fashion icon, after all it has become already part of Maitrepierre’s DNA to resurrect icons, one day haute couture, one day a fashion icon; Alphonse Maitrepierre is the ER of French fashion and French creativity all along. It is definitely fun to see the designer’s take on creating clothes in a completely different format, 3D renders; instead of fabrics, the ultimate eco-friendly move for the lady who has it all.
It would be interesting to see fashion really achieving to show and sell full collections through 3D modeled images. It would really cut the cost and pollution of sampling. After all, we can already enjoy contactless garments on Instagram that can be worn as filters.
