Gucci Presents Documentary Film for The North Face x Gucci by Aybuke Barkcin

Dear Shaded Viewers,

After the unveiling of The North Face x Gucci collaboration in December, Gucci tapped into artist Sean Vegezzi to create a documentary film to express the feeling of adventure.

In the documentary, Sean Vegezzi presents his passion for nature and the spirit of exploration by featuring Creative Director Alessandro Michele, who expresses that mankind should not be presented as a separate being from nature but in fact, “We are nature and nature is us”.

The collaboration between the two established brands represents a fuse between functionality and beauty. New designs brought together by different masterminds to create products which have shamanistic values for the wearer, allowing them to “penetrate other territories” as Michele describes. All meeting at the point of climbing, mountaineering and exploring.

There is a lot for both parties to gain. For The North Face, Gucci brings a new approach to outdoor wear, innovative designs and an introduction to a new, young and dynamic client base.

For Gucci, it was time to accept the changes that come along with the pandemic by focusing on making clothes that last, creating essential pieces for the wardrobe and tapping into the world of functionality and comfort.

A smart move on both sides.
