Announcing the first Chicken Turtle collection and fashion show by Ivo Barraza Castaneda.

I recently announced a release date for the first collection I will be presenting under the name of my new brand: Chicken Turtle. The first Chicken Turtle fashion show will happen in Paris, on the 5th of March 2021.

I arrived in Paris 3 years ago, after having been granted a full scholarship to study Fashion Design in the renowned  Parisian fashion school IFA Paris. During my time as a student I worked for brands like Rick Owens, Ami Paris and more. I worked in design studios and commercial teams to make sure I collected the necessary skills and knowledge to direct my own brand.

I describe Chicken Turtle as a designer brand based in Paris, that focuses on celebrating the energy of creative thinking and the authentic contemporary individual. The central visual theme of the brand is the little fictional character called Chicken Turtle which features the body of a curly chicken and a turtle shield with a spiral motif in the back.

I wanted to create a brand based on a cute little character because it’s what felt the most authentic to me. I have always been a fan of that universe, see Pokemon, Digimon etc. I was kind of fearful when I started thinking about it because I had never seen any luxury and avant-garde fashion brand doing that. Of course, doing something new always tastes bittersweet for a lot of reasons… I have promised to reveal the story behind the Chicken Turtle in the near future.

For the last few months I have dedicated myself to try different creative medias to grab the results as inspiration for the clothes I will present as the first Chicken Turtle collection. My favorite one so far has been the street installations I have done in Paris, Milan and Berlin. I can already see how they are informing my fashion pieces.

Ivo Barraza Castaneda

Hello, my name is Ivo. My three favorite things in life are: Thinking deeply about visual creation. I like having long discussions of ideas that might reinvent the course of history. And finally, spending time with the people I love. Since I was a child, I was always involved in some activity around plastic arts, music and literature. That’s how I learned to sew by hand at the age of five, which later led me to focus on my main professional media: Fashion Design.
