Heal the Healers a request from Delfina Delettrez Fendi and the David Lynch Foundation Italia

A letter from Delfina Delettrez Fendi

Dear friends,
I am happy and proud to inform you that I have been invited by David Lynch to support as “Ambassador” the first project of the David Lynch Foundation Italia, a Foundation based in Lucca of which he is Founder and President.
“Heal the Healers Now – Cure the Healers Now” is a project dedicated to doctors and healthcare staff, which aims to offer them practical support to reduce the anxiety and stress caused by the enormous task they are called upon to perform on a daily basis, especially at this time.
Medical staff have always been exposed to high levels of stress and anxiety, so much so that the term “burnout” – literally “emotional exhaustion or collapse” – was initially associated with the health and care professions. Anxiety and stress are now exacerbated by the pressure of COVID 19, and put the health and emotional well-being of doctors and all of us at risk.
This project focuses on caring for the physical and mental wellbeing of the individual and all those who in any way depend on their well-being, their ability to cope with daily challenges by resisting stress and maintaining lucidity and balance, with an instrument called transcendental meditation (MT). It is a method used all over the world by people from all walks of life, from creatives to businessmen, from students to doctors, from finance professionals to communication professionals. Among them various personalities such as Arianna Huffington (co-founder, director of The Huffington Post), Ray Dalio (entrepreneur, founder of the world’s largest hedge fund), Martin Scorsese (director), Oprah Winfrey (talk show creator), Tom Hanks, Lady Gaga and many others.
The proposed project “Heal the Healers Now” has a very solid foundation, and is already being implemented in the United States at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, where a pilot study on ER doctors has shown a significant reduction in burnout, insomnia and post-traumatic stress symptoms one month after joining the project.
In Italy David Lynch wanted to implement the programme from Lucca and its province, as he has a special bond with this city since he participated as guest of honour at the Lucca Film Festival. There were four days entirely dedicated to his art and transcendental meditation, which Lynch has been practicing for 47 years and supports with conviction. On that occasion, the first Italian MT project was launched in a high school with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca and the David Lynch Foundation, and an important scientific research was subsequently published.
I am writing to ask you from the bottom of my heart if you can help me with a donation to guide change in this direction. The courses dedicated to doctors and healthcare personnel will be entirely free for them, so we are asking you for support in achieving our final goal of €100,000 in order to start as soon as possible.

I apologise in advance for my very direct approach, but I am aware, also from personal experience, that “Heal the Healers now” can really have a great positive and transformative impact on this difficult situation.
For more information about the solidity and urgent need of this project, please visit www.davidlynchfoundationitalia.org. and contact Fatima Franco, Vice-President of DLF ITALY (fatima@davidlynchfoundationitalia.org).

Our collection of donations (deductible for companies and organizations) takes place both through the website www.davidlynchfoundationitalia.org/donazioni and with the possibility of making a transfer directly to DLF ITALIA on the current account.

I thank you for your attention and for the help you can give me for this initiative which opens up great prospects for our present and future and for this is particularly close to my heart.
