Georgia based Situationist showed their Spring Summer 2021 in the Paris Fashion Week Platform. The video presentation features models wearing the collection in the middle of the city. Interrupting the daily vision of citizens which are recorded reacting to the collection without previous notice.
The video does create a sense of reflection, even for us siting in our chairs watching the recording. It makes you think about how much the daily costume is so based on the idea of blending in, to try to become invisible. Situationist reminds you about the existence of the individual.
Contrary to what the exercise could make you imagine, the clothes in the collection are actually pretty down to earth. Mostly tailored pieces made in colors and fabrics that challenges the most know versions of themselves. Sometimes an idea comes from womenswear but it’s put on a man and vice-versa.
The exercise is truly breath taking.
