Dear Shaded Viewers,

Li-Ning is China’s icon of athletics and celebrated his 30th year at Centre Pompidou with big excitement and not the least, Jackie Chan was on hand. Mr. Li, the brand’s founder is an Olympic gold medalist and likes to create a vision of a champion athlete in relaxed tailoring, he merges sports derived looks with tailoring. The epic presentation was the first of a three year patronage at Centre Pompidou putting a focus on art and performance and the power of that exchange and it was a roaring success. A shifting 3-D urban landscape was created illuminated in a matrix-like grid constructed of scaffolding, neon, pixelated LED screens and monitors displaying 8-bit content reminiscent of the ’80’s videol games alongside various vintage video footage. To add to the visual and immersive experience there was Jackie Chan, Mr. Li Ning, Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union, Stefano Pilati, Mj Harper and Honey Dijon.

Quickly expanding its world of associates, Li-Ning arrives at the Autumn/Winter 2020 show having just launched collaborations with the menswear designer Neil Barrett, at Milan Men’s Fashion Week, and Stefano Pilati’s Random Identities, at Pitti Uomo. The brand’s Autumn/Winter 2020 show opened with a preview of yet another partnership: a design collaboration with the iconic martial artist and actor Jackie Chan. The 10-look collection features futuristic black-and-white looks that combine Kung-Fu–inspired design elements with utility and military surplus. Select styles from the range will be available exclusively in China the day following the show on Sunday, January 19th.

“I am proud beyond words that the framework we architected in 1990 has expanded to include such a richness of heritage, design, innovation, creativity, and spirit that new collaborators—celebrated design- ers and iconic stars alike—can be welcomed into our brand and express something true to themselves yet classically Li-Ning. This collection is a study in contrast, a juxtaposition of where we have been and where we are going. We are humbled to reconsider the last 30 years while looking ahead to the next.” said Mr. Li of his 30th anniversary collection.

On the exciting launch and introduction of the brand’s runway collection, Mr. Li offered, “After three decades, we are excited to leverage our intrinsic understanding of the athlete’s body and fuse it with an aesthetic, an attitude, and a sense of style that is deeply and uniquely Chinese yet intended for all. We wish to define the space where sport and imagination intersect, with a vivid approach and quality that is unparalleled.”
