PERVERZE PHOTOGRAPHY
SUNNY SUITS EXHIBITION
PARIS 2019
Established in Tokyo in 2016 by a collective of young creatives, PERVERZE transforms its personal and genuine affection of pre-mass-produced vintage wears into a collection of womenswear that reflects the spirit and style of today’s woman. The brand is built upon a unique collaborative approach and has created photographic works with artists such as Toyin Ibidapo, Hanayo, Sakiko Nomura, Dasom Han and others.

PERVERZE PHOTOGRAPHY, launched in 2018, is a collaborative project comprised of exhibiting and publishing contemporary photographers. During the 2019 Paris photo fairs, Paris Photo and Photo Saint-Germain PERVERZE PHOTOGRAPHY presents The Life Before Us, an exhibition from art photographer Sunny Suits.

The American visual artist and writer, based in Paris, uses her own life as the focus of her artistic work. Using analog photography, she documents those around her in intimate photographs that become part of an ever-evolving larger work, a self-portrait. Her solo exhibitions include The Wild Heart at Daniel Reich Gallery, NYC and Regular Lovers at Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami. Her work has also been shown at Art Basel Miami and Frieze New York and has been published in Next Libération, Vogue Paris, Candy, Fanzine 137 and Dazed among other publications.

For the project, Sunny photographed new friends and loved ones, including Paul P. Frankie Rice, Dani Siciliano, Joey Gabriel and Nan Goldin styled in PERVERZE’s collections created from 2016 to 2019. Shot between Paris, New York and Provincetown, The Life Before Us takes its name from the beloved French novel by Emile Ajar. The resulting images, published as a limited edition small book, stay true to her snapshot aesthetic bringing a touch of intimacy to the PERVERZE collective.
