Undercover/Valentino Collaboration – men and women AW19

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Undercover’s 2019/20 AW MEn’s collection references the Stanley Kubrick ‘A Clockwork Orange’ with additional hints from European Medieval brought into modern shapes, and materials. The collaboration with Valentino came out of a conversation between Pierpaolo and Jun, with graphical elements designed by Undercover and presented on both collections in their new unique way.

“Jun Takahashi has changed the philosophy of streetwear, elevating a genuinely concrete matter to a more conceptual and sophisticated level. Undercover is able to use a poetry and delicacy even in the more common pieces of an everyday wardrobe. I like Jun’s taste and vision and I like how he plays and interacts with graphics. There is always something to discover, his work is never predictable. The encounter between our 90’s tailoring inspired collection and his romantic streetwear is a spontaneous and most of all , real frame of contemporaneity.” Pierpaolo Piccioli, Creative Director Maison Valentino.

“I agreed to work with Maison Valentino because I personally greatly admire Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli. The past and the future is the common themes of this season for Valentino and Undercover and I tried to express it through graphics. There is a mix of time travel, UFO and the imagery of Beethoven in the film “A Clockwork Orange”, which is a theme of Undercover.” Jun Takahashi, Designer of Undercover.
