Undercover goes deep into Luca Guadagnino’s Suspira, a remake of a 1970s Dario Argento fantasy of violently consuming female power.

Jun Takahashi, the designer behind the brand UNDERCOVER, saw the film Suspiria by Luca Guadagnino and was totally taken in by the film and went on to meet the director, Luca Guadagnino, they got on really well and the result…a truly emotional collection with the Suspiria logo hand beaded and embroidered, often in blood red or white. The long scarves are like belts that turn into veils and there are sleeve accessories and a long black eyelash skirt that I fell in love with. The bomber jackets have an amazing draped volume in the back kind of sac back and then the option of an obi belt. All that and I forgot to mention all of the Suspiria graphics you can see in the images above with Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Jessica Harper who was the only member of the cast that was in the original version by Dario Argento. Suspiria, the original, was released in 1977 and Luca Guadagnino’s version in 2018. The story, if you are not already familiar with it, has an American young dancer that comes to a prestigious German ballet academy and understands that it is a front for something sinister and beyond or behind the walls a series of grisly murders take place. Personally the parts I liked the best were the amazing choreography by Damien Jalet who managed to create a witch craft choreography that was as dark and penetrating as the film.
