Jewelry – The Body Transformed November 12 – February 24, 2019 photos by Miguel Villalobos

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The exhibition, The Body Transformed, opens November 12th and  explores the relationship between the  jewelry and the person wearing the pieces. It seeks to discover  what wearing certain pieces means and why we wear it and how it effects us. The exhibition travels through time and also through the length of the body from head to toe.  230 objects have been drawn exclusively from The Met collection  and they include headdresses, sculptures, paintings, prints and photographs that amplify the stories of transformation that jewelry tells. Each piece has a story to tell. The story telling goes from the past to contemporary jewellers and the conversation is as global as it is personal.

A catalogue accompanies the exhibition.
