SCHEPERS BOSMAN S2019 – Text by Marcelo Horacio Maquieira Piriz

Dear Shaded Viewers & Diane,

Schepers Bosman’s new capsule landed in Prague last September for womenswear, and, for men Spring-Summer 2019, did travel by way of the crowded Amsterdam-Paris road. All they needed were six looks to expand and enhance what we’ve always known Schepers Bosman to do best– patterning and manufacturing their own intrinsically, colorful ideas.

The duo’s unpretentious approach to clothing has been acknowledged and rewarded worldwide. Mallory Chin, editor of Hypebeast, deemed them one of the top five from Prague Fashion Week. Additionally, they were one of the few guests from ArtEZ alumni selected to show on the Czech runway and curated by Rachid Naas.

Sanne Schepers and Anne Bosman’s own decision to hone their skills with postgraduate degrees in Paris and London reflects the serenity and self-security evident in their work today, like the embroidered patches all over their architectural sewing techniques. Despite only two years producing work in the field, Schepers Bosman has a clear image, sidestepping the identity struggles young designers often initially face.

Arnhem’s University of the Arts, ArtEZ, trains their pupils to strive for longevity and consistency in their work, and to avoid the dangers of laziness public recognition so often induces. If the models, all layered in silk, cotton and satin, were wearing shades, it was purely eye protection for the heavy, sunny days ahead. There’s no needs for attitudes at all.

Best,

MHM.
