Palomo Spain Wunderkammer Spring 2019 at MBMFW

Dear Diane, dear Shaded Viewers,

I’m happy to share with you the latest collection by Palomo Spain.

Wunderkammer was presented at the Natural Science Museum in Madrid and the attending crowd was as usual a big part of the show. The “who is who” of the creative or just colorful madrilene scene was there, as well as buyers from all over the world- Don’t be misguided by Alejandro Palomo’s ambiguous fashion as he creates mostly for women with a man in his mind. His clothes are selling very well in the most prestigious boutiques around the world, including Ekseption in Madrid where I’m working these days and therefore get to witness how women who don’t even know about his current hype fall in love with the clothes.

The garments he showed last Sunday were again a step forward in his career. He keeps polishing his style which stays solidly based in his particular universe: young beautiful boys very effeminate and sensual wearing flamboyant pieces. The materials keep getting better -the pieces in rough silk were stunning-, the construction of the garments more effortlessly elaborated and his shows stay full of enchantment and magic. The blueprint is there but there’s also an evolution. Palomo keeps growing into a classic Haute Couture master at the age of 26 and what seemed to be an anecdote at some point is not just a reality but the basis of a very solid future in fashion to an international level.

We’ll certainly keep seeing his romantic and slutty, virginal male prostitutes walking down the runway for a while. While rich ladies and low life gender fluid kids alike wear his clothes down the street.

And I really love that idea.

Kindly,

Mario Canal.
