I passed by the gallery yesterday with my friend Marco de Rivera to witness the installation of 19 year old artist Julien Sitruk . Later in the evening I returned to the gallery with performance artist Juriji Der Klee, who filmed the NVU. By the time I got there I found that one half of the 30 paintings on display had already been sold. I had the chance to chat with a few of the collectors, 3 to be exact. All were super happy with their art and now were trying to figure out how they were shipping the art to their homes in San Francisco and Chicago. I met Julien when he was 16 , or perhaps even 15, at Centre Pompidou during ASVOFF. He’d already been painting for years. In fact a few of the paintings at the exhibition were done in 2009 when he was only 10 years old. Subjects include icons like Rick Owens, Michele Lamy and Grace Jones. In addition to the artwork there was an exciting and invigorating film.
