YURKIEVICH, the creative collective of Gaspard Yurkievich and Guido Voss, presented the ONEPIECE collection at the Palais de Tokyo on January 23rd. With a live performance which took place in a cinematic atmosphere, the ONEPIECE collection was presented in an old cinema space. The entire space became a stage for the performance with 12 models wearing the ONEPIECE collection and interacting with designers Yurkievich and Voss, as well as composer and interpreter Peter Von Poehl and Marie Modiano. The collection reveals a sensitive vision of femininity inspired by Pina Bausch’s work, heroines from movies of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, or the work of the artist Gisèle Vienne.
There are 30 styles, for an ideal wardrobe, dress or jumpsuit; each style is embodying the Parisian creative and modern spirit…The styles vary from the more tailored styles such as the coat dress in silk crepe with embossed velvet, the tartan wool jumpsuit, the flecked shirtdress, checked cotton and corduroy dress.
The second group consists of dresses with elaborate construction to highlight the movement of the body and femininity including long crepe dresses, dresses with varied draping and asymmetry, and pleated dresses belted at the waist. These dresses could easily be worn from day to night.
The final group showcases dresses adorned with hand embroidery and the spirit of Couture vital to the stylistic language of YURKIEVICH. The cutting edge textile, the attention to details in the ONEPIECE collection are the elements that compose a sophisticated collection in the tradition of the Parisian savoir-faire, in a contemporary, minimal, but sophisticated life-style.
