Dear Shaded Viewers,
Diane is in Rome for Altaroma and she attended the Who is on Next show and award ceremony. The winners are the design duo Actn1, a brand I talked about last year in this article about young designers to keep under the radar. I’m very proud of Luca Lin and Galib Gassanoff, with whom I spent also time during Shangai supporting their very first show in China during Shanghai Fashion Week. Their design stands for multicultural hints, featuring some memories of their own family origins; from Chinese furniture and porcelains in Lin’s parents home (Luca is born in Italy by Chinese parents) and post-Soviet tapestry and décor from Gassanoff’s house between Azerbaijan and Georgia. Deconstructed jackets, punk feel given by the fact that all models always wear an safety pin long nose earring, textile juxtapositions, thigh-high boots and regal long coats that resemble some of the traditional Chinese royal attire from Tang’s dinasty. Brocade often breaks with denim or velvet, cotton that fuses with cashmere for a luxe look that exudes also a sporty vibe and oversized shapes.
