Dear Shaded Viewers,
Zeitlosigkeit is the current exhibition at OUTCASTS INCORPORATED. It is a collection of recent and archival images from the German photographer Katja Rahlwes. Rahlwes explains her work as an essay on the notions that are relevant to the ambiguities and the contradictions of life. Her influences come from the feminine force, the transcendence, consumerism, to life and death… The exhibition consists of portraits and still-life images.
Rahlwes is best known for her fashion photography published in international magazines, French Vogue, Self Service, Fantastic Man, Purple Fashion, the Gentlewoman as well as her advertising campaigns for luxury brands such as Miu Miu and Gucci, to name a few.
The current exhibition shows another aspect of her work using popular culture, beer caps as jewels in a faience bowl, doll house furniture, cigarette butts symbolizing a neurosis, a box of pills prescribed by her father.
Personal images of feminine collusions, still-lifes that are translating a hinge-exhibition where we can see simultaneously both parts that form her universe, the public and private domains: the aesthetics of her resistance.
