KAMILA MOOR FW16/17 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY RUSLAN SMIRNOV

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Based in Astana, Kazakhstan, Kamila Moor unveiled her debut womenswear collection during the last edition of Paris Fashion Week, presenting her clothes at Cube Showroom in le Marais. With a background in architectural engineering and interior design, Moor favors sleek shapes and simple lines, sticking to refined and plush materials. Menswear-inspired staples, such as oversize cashmere blend coats, slouchy pleated pants and sleeveless gilets trimmed with fur, were balanced with more romantic pieces, such as felt on silk embroidered dresses, cozy hand knit sweaters and weightless organza blouses and skirts.

Mixing urban codes with regional techniques, the designer struck the right balance between functional and decorative, utilitarian and chic, crafting timeless clothes for women on the move. Her varied color palette, ranging from pale blush to midnight blue, expressed the multiple facets of a woman who seems perfectly at ease with her own contradictions.

Best,

Philippe
