Friday night, I was at the new musical collective non-profit venue in Brooklyn, National Sawdust, to see the musical collaboration of keyboardist Yuka Honda & guitarist Nels Cline.
Yuka is best known as one half of the band Cibo Matto and also for performing in Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band.
Nels is best known as the guitarist in the band Wilco.
Both are terrific musicians that I've had the pleasure to see perform multiple times here in NYC.
Tonight's performance was very electronic avant garde with a film being projected behind them which seemed to sync their music as a type of soundtrack.
I enjoyed the show very much.
As far as the venue, National Sawdust – it's a great new addition to the Brooklyn music scene. Really nicely constructed and great sound.
Just like I'm sure that I'll be seeing both Yuka Honda & Nels Cline perform again – I'll be visiting National Sawdust for future concerts.
