NAIR XAVIER – MODALISBOA SS/16 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY RUI VASCO

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Inspired by the peaceful beauty of African deserts, Nair Xavier presented an unfussy and sharp menswear collection, focusing on elegant and tailored shapes, which hinted at vintage colonial styles. Fitted collarless jackets were made in soft, woven fabrics, and worn with relaxed, cropped pants. The designer reworked overalls and made them urban again -whether in short or long versions- striking the right balance between formality and ease. With her natural fibers, clean silhouette and subdued color palette -ranging from pastel blue and sand to terracotta and brown- Nair Xavier proved that less is more, highlighting the intricacy of her precise cuts.

Best,

Philippe
