Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,
As the lights were going down, the photographers were yelling – as usual – to the front row, insisting we uncross our legs so not to intrude in their runway shots. And then one decreed ‘- and open your hearts!’ I laughed, along with some other folk who likewise appreciate moments when things aren’t taken too seriously. Appropriately then, the first few looks of the collection were covered with pen scribbles in rainbow hues. These developed into modernist collage with cartooned flowers and newspaper clippings, which emerged in the end of the show with 70s allusions but not quite, referencing in moments the brand’s heyday.
