Dear Shaded Viewers,
While this year’s Autumn-Winter 2015 wardrobes invoke memories of the late-forgotten 90’s, AREA’s atelier moves them in a different direction. Their third collection benefits from the strict condition under which they devised their designs – no melancholy allowed!
Founded by designers Piotrek Panszczyk and Beckett Fogg, AREA manifest their common ideal that our future should be modernized, both technically and aesthetically. Creating fabrics from their Big Apple’s Chinatown studio, the two young minds wrap women’s bodies with predictions of the future. They are complete contemporary designers – developing raw materials and designing in synergistic harmony.
The roughness of the fabrics liberates bodies into a wild rhythmical silhouette, moving with the elegance of a beautiful gazelle. The incredible control of material possessed by AREA pours out in its most animalistic form – daring debauchery and sex appeal through subtle splits and flared sleeves on tight upper legs.
The aphrodisiacal fabrics the duo use are notoriously effective – by integrating designs from New York City they become decorative pieces themselves. Combined with an understated refinement and an appreciation for materials, the plural influences of the Polish and American designers call for a woman with a sharp imagination.
Best,
MHM.
