DINO ALVES – MODALISBOA FW 15/16 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI PHOTOS BY RUI VASCO

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Dino Alves presented an elegant and relaxed show during the last edition of ModaLisboa, applying the same sartorial principles to his men and women. Playing with the dark energy of black -often mixed with vibrant tones and using monochrome effects- the Portuguese designer kept the silhouette structured and graphic, adding hats and blanket-like wraps to give substance to his outfits. Alves' shirts, which often turned into longer tunics, were cool and smart at the same time, while his skirts were flirty and sensual. He used fringing on several pieces, which seemed to refer to ethnic costumes and historical roots. The mood of the collection was, in fact, mysterious and controlled, demonstrating the designer's skills as a fine tailor. Before the show took place, Alves instructed his audience to come to the venue dressed entirely in black, a very shaded statement indeed.

Best,

Philippe
