Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,
I’m doing a short series on five designers who’ve been designing professionally for 5 years or less, and whom I think will do some interesting things this year…Today I'd like to tell you about TOOGOOD.
The studio of London-based sisters, Faye and Erica Toogood is established in interior design and installation with a portfolio citing names like Hermes, Opening Ceremony and Hostem. Recently they ventured into fashion themselves, creating simple unisex garments based on workwear traditions. Silhouettes are clean, cuts are loose and textiles, durable. There’s integrity in what they produce, as everything’s done in England, and I get the sense that their garments are made to age well, and with character.
TOOGOOD’s first collection was outerwear, the second they developed separates, and their third collection will be presented in Paris in March, and I can’t wait to see what they’ll do.
