Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,
Tattoos and outsiders were the starting points for Andreja Bistricic and Maja Marlic's SS15 collection for their brand, DIORALOP. Based in London though originally from Croatia, the two designers take colours and prints inspired from Polaroid images, and spill the chemicals intentionally under different conditions to create their collections.

This season, their inspiration has come from full-body tattooed women who were exhibitioned and earned money as freaks in the 20s. Also the original style tribe of Skinheads in the 60s in London (before a section merged into the infamous religious extremists), as well as underground Catholic cults in Croatia during the Ottoman occupation, served as strong reference points for their collection. The heavy, structured, panelled and protective garments are certainly those of 'outsiders', and the abstract winding prints are intriguing and somehow take on a life of their own.
