I first met Maria Restrepo and Ian Phin aka Rohka when they showed in Milan and it was the highlight of that season for me. THey started in the 90's with Romeo Gigli and continued with important roles in Versace, Marni and Max Mara, among others. In 2001 they created ROHKA, Maria is Colombian and Ian is Scottish. Now they have evolved into chroma (rohka) a collection of special pieces in the form of scarves that they are launching this summer.
For the base they use the highest quality pure silk twill, saglia, newly developed gauze, silk modal blends and employ techniques ranging from state of the art digital to hand worked flock, lacquer application and painting. Each piece is finely finished with hand rolled and stitched borders or fringed thread by thread.All the work takes place in their amazing space in northern italy between the city of como and ian and maria's restored 16the century water mill where they live and work.
