Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,
The latest couture collection from Didit Hediprasetyo featured an unlikely pairing of traditional Chinese dress and American sportswear, and it worked. The Indonesian couturier used clear inspiration from the Chinese Qipao, and whilst the silhouettes rarely strayed from these full-length form-fitting gowns, and the palette remained mostly cobalt, navy and black, the simplicity in these recurrences gave the presentation a fitting sense of calm. And this modesty somehow remained undisturbed by the suede baseball caps and tracksuit-inspired trousers, which in fact, seamlessly directed the collection into the realm of contemporary luxury.
