The other day I met Mads Dinesen in his first Paris showroom rue de Quincampoix.
The Berlin based designer collection picks the name of "Moondog", an American blind composer, also poet and inventor, who has lived and worked on 6th Avenue in New york for 20 years. He was known for his unconventionnal and avant garde outfits,
"I do not dress as I do to attract attention – I attract attention because I dress as I do." Moondog
He appeared as a futuristic Norse-God, an urban medecine man, ressembling a Viking, a warrior or a shaman. Mads uses these stylistic criteria to create a casual and modern menswear collection.
However, the psychedelic "Holy Moutain" of the transgressive filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky has had a great impact on Mads' work.The abundance of religious symbolism and the stunning visual language in the film add to the collection a critical sense on our society.
