Dear Diane, dear shaded viewers,
Ter et Bantine's signature mix of masculine and
feminine finds new facets in a continual
alternation between tones and registers: the strictness of coat-top-trouser combinations made in one fabric is juxtaposed with the tactile and
chromatic richness of multicolor furs made with salvaged skins. Manuela Arcari subverts wardrobe codes , in a continual alternation of tones and
registers. She brings the padded softness of a quilt to the classics of her
repertoire as she mixes pinstripes and jacquards . She contradicts the severity
of the line with glam-tinted metal
flashes, she alternates the raw luminosity of satin with the firmness of gazar.
The result is an evolving movement. The materials are dense to the touch:
mannish wools, jacquard silks, metallic leather. The color palette is moody:
black, blue, grey, silver and then flashes of jellow, bronze, periwinkle
blue. the collection contains all its
magic unrepeatable: convention and subversion, in the strict sense an
extraordinary and compelling immersion into a contemporary timeless language.
I loved the artworks by Marco Neri exposed in the Ter et Bantine space at White
Accessories include velvet or nappa pointy ballerinas
