Pouring rain in Tokyo, almost monsoon style, Akiko Hamaoka and I decided to visit the Aida Makoto Monument For Nothing exhibition that opened today at the Mori Art Center. Aida Makoto is one of the most celebrated contemporary artists and this was his first retrospective solo show. His work is considered both grotesque and erotic with a critical eye towards politics and historical issues. His work is considered like a mini version of Japanese society.
