On route to the Hotel Villa Michelangelo
Dear Shaded Viewers,
I am in the beautiful city of Vicenza as a guest of Vicenzaoro, the largest exhibition of gold, hence the name, jewellery, silverware, watches and gemstones. A driver picked me up at the airport and drove me to the beautiful Villa Michelangelo in the hills of Vicenza. The first event was the Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards.
Gianmaria Buccellati, is a jury member and passionate about his admiration for the gold dprocessing techniques of the Renaissaince period. There was a short film with an interview in his atelier.
Giampaolo Babetto received The Best Italian Jewellery Designer Award
Achille Variati presnets Gijs Bakker, co-founder of Droog Design and "CHi Ha Paura…?" the best International jewellery design award.

Gianni Zonin presented the boutique Dodo in London the award for the best flagship store
Michael Heyman presented Bruno Crivelli with the best Italian Jewellery Brand Award
Gaetano Cavalieri presented Van Cleef & Arpels the best international Jewellery Brand Award
Just for an aside, Gaetano received a call from the IHT a while ago asking to interview him for the travel section. The reason being that he travels more than 1,000,000 miles a year. I ran into him a few months ago in the airport in Rome.
The President, Roberto DItri presented the best communication award to Cartier for their amazing film that they said took 5 years to make.
