NY Fashion Week Studio Visit w/ Katie Gallagher–Jessica Trent

Dear Diane, Dear Shaded Viewers,

I'm here in NY from LA for fashion week. It just started snowing a bit ago!

I had a really lovely time in the Lower East Side studio of young designer Katie Gallagher and her talented art director boyfriend Nikolay Saveliev the other night. I'm most looking forward to her show on Thursday which is part of MADE fashion week at The Standard.

I can't say I've ever really encountered anyone quite like Katie. She is serious beyond her years about her work, yet also has a beautiful youthful and positive nature. Katie and Nikolay seem like the perfectly genuine couple out of a Tim Burton animated film. They work together collaboratively and respectfully.

Katie sews every single one of her samples herself, including the gorgeous cream colored leather jacket made from an Easter gift from her father (the skin from a deer he shot) that will be in the Fall 12 presentation.
