Dear Shaded Viewers,
On friday evening artists, hipsters and fashionistas poured into the 12MAIL gallery to see the Bartholomew exhibit curated by JSBJ (Je suis une bande de jeunes). Three young artists, Jeremie Egry, Aurelien Arbet and Nicolas Poillot, launched a collection of '90s inspired minimalist photographs, art and videos to coincide with the release of their latest publication Bartholomew.
'Youth Youth Youth (1955-2011)' by Ofer Wolberger
'Skate Sirens' by Santiago Mostyn
The exhibit examines the 'teen angst' troubled adolescence of the '90s, with references to cultural icons like Kurt Cobain, Tiffani Amber Thiessen and Mariah Carey. JSBJ's creative compilation of personal work and pieces from external artists is a refreshing take on the current resurgence of the transitional decade, finding a unified voice for our inner maverick.
'Aunt Mary' by Amy Lombard, 'Anna-Karin' by Marten Lange and 'Untitled (Marbles)' by Nicholas Gottlund
