Jessica Trent Reports On A Current Affair Vintage in Los Angeles April 2 & 3

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

This weekend in downtown Los Angeles Joey Grana of Scout and private vintage dealer Richard Wainwright have gathered 20+ of their favorite vintage retailers and dealers (including GlamAmor, Mercy Vintage, Siren Vintage and VOK) for a smartly arranged and fun 2-day event in the huge penthouse of the Cooper Building. The Cooper Design Space, as its officially called now, was built in the 1920s specifically for the fashion industry and has remained in that capacity for 9 decades.

This is the 3rd round of A Current Affair, which started in September 2010.  I'm personally looking forward to the thrill of the hunt for pieces I've had my eye on like 90s Alaia bodysuits, a Theirry Mugler safari-style dress, as well as classic YSL and Chanel blouses and jackets. (Of course some of the most interesting things I've seen at the shows aren't by a "known" designer at all).

I can never get enough of accessories and bags. This beauty would be great with Spring 11 Rodarte.

At the past shows I've spotted some fantastic Comme des Garcons men's pieces. The new Los Feliz-based shop Weltenbuerger will have their "experimental, progressive, and bleeding edge" 80s & 90s fashions for men as well as vintage eyewear on display in their booth.

Saturday night is the cocktail preview with tunes being spun by artist/makeup artist William Lemon III.
